Background image not printed for HTML-Pages

Post by Carsten »

When i print a HTML-Page to PDF the background image is not displayed in the result.
This was posted several times in the forum.
Is there a solution for it or is someone working on it?

The problem is that the browser defines a white background that covers the background completely. Other programs such as MS Word leaves the background transparant. We may come up with a solution for this problem where you can put your background on top instead. However, this is only on the drawing board and I cannot give you any timeline for this feature.

Actually, Firefox 2 browser allows you to print backgrounds and works with the PDF Printer fine.

In Firefox, you goto to the 'File', 'Page Setup' menu and tick the box, 'Print Background (colors & images).

The result is generally good, except when there is layed images and text (CSS). One example, a background banner, with a transparent image to the right, with text above that. The text in the resultant .pdf file, in that area of the 'page' was garbled. Everything else on the page was fine.

Still, only downloaded the PDF printer driver today, having tried another in the past. This one suits my personal, non-commercial needs.

The HTML page may already have background images and they are printed correctly.
That's not the problem.
But i can not change the contents of the html page at the moment it is printed to PDF.
I want to print the HTML page on some kind of business paper, but the area on the resulting PDF is always white instead of the content of the background PDF.
This only happens with HTML pages (regardless of printing via IE or Firefox), not with other document types.
