My PDF file size INCREASES when I print JPEG

Using Version 7.2.0.1304, when I print the following examples. Windows XP, Service Pack 3.
When I print a 68KB JPEG file, the PDF file increases to 107KB.
When I print a Word doc 33KB, the file size goes to 33KB.
When I print 12 JPEG files 1.3MB, the PDF files increase to 2.3MB.
Is there a setting that I am overlooking to decrease the size of the PDF print files?
