Crashing when installing on Windows 2012

I'm trying to install the latest version on Win2012, and starting it either by the "Install software"-function, directly from a shell or with "Run as administrator" all crash at the same point near the end of the install. It gets past installing GS and Xpdf, then the final glimpse of the install dialogue is "Installing printer driver", and the installer crahes with this debug info:

There is no log file in %TEMP%.

Please check you location for temporary files again. There should be something *.log with a current time stamp. Try to sort by time in the folder. I know you have tried that but please try again

%TEMP% was empty, as in zero files. Also, none hidden/system files.

For some reason it did install now, from the same file.

Case closed, this was some sort of heisenbug.
